Hi, I'm Shona!

I’ve always had a love for art and making things with my hands - whether it was sketching, sewing, or dreaming up new designs. Before Artfelt came to life, I spent years as a curtain maker, working with fabric and form to bring warmth and character into people’s homes. That creative spirit eventually led me to needle felting, which I stumbled into 9 years ago - and was instantly hooked.

There’s something magical about turning soft merino wool into little scenes full of texture and charm. Whether it’s rolling hills or a curious coo, each piece is made with joy (and a very sharp needle!). What started as a hobby quickly grew into a passion, and now I have the absolute joy of doing Artfelt full-time.

You’ll often find me at local craft fairs and pop-ups - come say hi and chat all things felting.

Home is the Moray coast, tucked away in the northeast of Scotland, where I live with my two fur babies, Maisie and Mabel, and my husband Ian.

Ian might not be the one holding the needle, but he’s definitely part of the magic. He’s the one helping with displays, playing matchmaker between felt and folk at events, and making sure the pups are happy while I felt away. Artfelt is a team effort, and I’m lucky to have him on mine.

We enjoy exploring woodland walks and beach paths, soaking up the colours, textures, and wildlife that inspire my work.

The sea air, shifting skies, and peaceful moments outdoors are woven into everything I create. It’s this connection to nature that brings my felted pieces to life.
